Prayer Impact: Outline of the SchemePrayer Impact is a scheme which seeks to unite Christians in Petersfield to pray for their neighbours. It was launched in all the PACT Churches on Sunday 25 January 2004 when all Church members were invited to join or form a PI Prayer group to pray for their neighbours. Leaflets were given to all those who are interested in becoming involved with Prayer Impact. The reply slips will be collated and those who have expressed an interest will be invited to form groups with other Christian who live nearby. If you wish you may form your own group - or you may already be in a group which is praying for your neighbours - there is no compulsion to join Prayer Impact. We would, however, appreciate it if you would let the Prayer Impact organisers know which homes you are praying for so that we do not duplicate our efforts. Key points PI is a PACT initiative which will involve all of the PACT churches PI has three main aims:
What we ask all Christians to do: Join or create a prayer group in your street with other Christians from any Church in Petersfield and pray together, as a group, for your neighbours. What to pray for:
Practicalities We need three types of volunteers:
If you are interested in becoming the Church Co-ordinator for your church see your Church leader . If you are interested in forming a PI group read the page “Guidelines for Street Co-ordinators”. This will tell you how to form a group and give some practical advice. You will also need a copy of the leaflet “Prayer Impact”. If you are interested in joining a PI group then take a copy of the leaflet “Prayer Impact”. If you would like to be your Church’s PI Co-ordinator, form or join a PI group complete the slip in the leaflet “Prayer Impact” and return it to your church leader or PI co-ordinator. How it will work As reply slips are returned you will be invited to host or join a PI group in your street. Remember that you will only be praying for people in your street or perhaps adjacent streets. If you wish you may form a group on your own – that’s fine. You may already be part of a group that is already praying for your neighbours – that’s wonderful! If you wish you can join the PI scheme and you will be given support and information. Alternatively you may wish to carry on as you have been – that’s fine too. Whatever you decide to do we would be grateful if you would let us know which neighbours you are praying for so that another group doesn't pray for the same people As soon as your group has formed you should decide exactly which neighbours you will be praying for – make a list of the house numbers so that adjacent groups don’t also pray for the same people. Then start praying – we suggest that groups meet once a month for half an hour – you can meet more often and for longer if you wish. Let your Church Co-ordinator or Church Leader know who you are and who you are praying for. After a few weeks you will be provided with leaflets which you can deliver to the neighbours you are praying for. These leaflets let the neighbour about PI and offer them an opportunity to make specific prayer requests via a reply slip. The reply slip will normally be delivered to the Street Co-ordinator’s home, but may also be returned to any Church in Petersfield. The reply slips will not contain any personal details – only a name (which can be made up) and the name of the street. What else can I do?
